Fukuoka Prefectural Library

The Fukuoka Prefectural Library is a modern facility in Higashi-ku housing books, periodicals, digital materials, and films for public use. The building provides reading spaces, internet access, and workstations for visitors of all kinds.

The facility was founded in 1918 and moved several times before settling in the Hakozaki area of Higashi Ward. These relocations reflect how the library grew and adapted over the decades.

The facility maintains collections about Fukuoka Prefecture's heritage and provides educational programs that connect residents with local and national literature resources.

Visitors can obtain a free library card and borrow up to 10 items for two weeks at a time. Internet access and the reference desk are available from Tuesday through Sunday.

The collection includes specialized materials about Fukuoka Prefecture's regional character and heritage. The library also maintains an extensive film collection that complements its traditional materials.
