Ryūgū-ji, Buddhist temple in Fukuoka, Japan.
The Ryuguji Temple features a Great Buddha statue measuring 10.8 meters in height and weighing 30 tons, completed through four years of carving work.
The temple moved from its original seaside location when Kuroda Tadayuki, the second lord of Fukuoka province, selected a new site for this religious complex.
The temple holds the Senjukan-non statue, carved from a single Chinese black pine log during the Heian period, representing refined Buddhist craftsmanship.
Visitors can explore the temple grounds, which include the main hall, a treasure exhibition space, and the Rokkakudo structure with its rotating sutra shelves.
The temple houses Japan's largest seated wooden Buddha statue, encircled by a 16.1-meter ring decorated with numerous carved Buddha images.
