Kamagafuchi Dam, Arch dam in Matsumoto, Japan.
Standing at a height of 38.5 meters with a crest length of 144 meters, Kamagafuchi Dam controls water flow in the Shinano River system.
The construction of this infrastructure project began in 1943, representing an early implementation of arch-type engineering methods in Japanese dam construction.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism manages this structure, which received status as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
With a reservoir capacity of 640 thousand cubic meters, the dam serves multiple functions including agricultural irrigation, flood prevention, and river flow regulation.
Located at the entrance of Kamikochi highland area, this check dam maintains water levels of Taisho Pond while protecting the surrounding natural environment.
