承久の乱合戦供養塔

This memorial tower is located on the grounds of Buganin Temple and serves as a stone monument honoring warriors from the medieval period. The structure is a simple yet solemn pillar that marks this historically significant site.

The tower commemorates a 1221 battle between Kamakura shogunate forces and imperial troops during the Jokyu War. This conflict represented a major turning point in how power was distributed in medieval Japan.

During construction in the 1930s, workers discovered multiple gorintō stone monuments near the memorial, revealing layers of centuries-old devotion at the site. These findings suggest the location was used for remembrance long before the current tower was formally established.
