Hiroshima Airport Bridge

Hiroshima Airport Bridge is an arch bridge in Mihara that links the airport to the city center. The structure spans the Numata River and several railway lines with a distinctive 380-meter arch as its main feature.

Completed in 2011, the bridge established a critical transportation connection for the Hiroshima region. This engineering project improved access between the airport and surrounding areas in significant ways.

The bridge received recognition through the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Tanaka Prize for its contribution to national infrastructure development.

The bridge provides direct vehicle access to the airport and serves as a main traffic route. Traffic can be heavier during peak travel times, so timing your crossing can affect your journey.

The structure was engineered to withstand strong winds through specialized design approaches. Builders used custom equipment to manage the steep valley terrain during construction.
