Mihara, Port city in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
The Numata River flows through this urban center, which extends to the Seto Inland Sea with 258 square kilometers of territory.
Mihara developed around its castle during the Sengoku Period and officially gained city status on November 15, 1936, through a merger with Itozaki.
Local temples, including Buttsū-ji and Seishin-ji, maintain Japanese spiritual traditions while the Yassa Festival brings residents together every August.
The Sanyo Shinkansen and Mihara Port provide transportation connections, while the city supports 20 elementary schools and 10 junior high schools.
Three separate river plains - Yubara, Komagahara, and Konishihara - contributed their names to form the city's designation of Mihara.
