Muchu Chhish, Unclimbed mountain in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
Muchu Chhish is a mountain in the Batura Muztagh section of the Karakoram range in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, rising to 7,453 meters (24,452 feet). The peak stands among other high summits and features steep rock walls surrounded by glacial terrain.
British mountaineers reached approximately 6,000 meters (19,685 feet) on the mountain in 2014 before turning back. Since then, the summit has remained without a successful ascent, despite further attempts in the following years.
The mountain stands as a testament to the mountaineering traditions of Pakistan's northern region, where climbing expeditions connect with local communities.
The best time for expeditions is between June and September, when weather conditions are most stable. Access is through the Hunza Valley and requires thorough planning and permits.
The summit ranks as one of the highest mountains worldwide that has never been climbed. Only Gangkhar Puensum in Bhutan stands higher and remains closed to mountaineers for religious reasons.
