Old Palace in Ostromecko

The Old Palace in Ostromecko is a three-story Rococo structure with a mansard roof, featuring white classical columns, decorative pilasters, and ornate stucco detailing across its facade. The large ceremonial windows suggest the importance of the main rooms inside.

The building was constructed in 1766 by the Mostowski family to replace an older manor house on the site. It later underwent significant changes under Pawel Michal Mostowski, the regional Voivode at that time.

The palace houses one of Poland's three major piano collections, featuring instruments from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection reflects how important music and cultural refinement were to the noble families who lived here.

The site is accessible on foot from the main entrance or through the garden areas at the back of the building. Comfortable footwear is recommended since the grounds include paved paths and landscaped areas to explore.

The northern terrace overlooks the Italian garden and Linden Avenue, offering a view that reveals how the family used this former hunting residence as a retreat. The layout demonstrates their desire for a place removed from everyday concerns.
