Crna Reka Monastery

The monastery complex includes a cave church carved into steep canyon walls alongside the Black River, which flows underground near the structure.

The monastery dates from the 13th century when a small church measuring three meters wide and six meters long was constructed within a natural cave.

The cave church contains 16th-century frescoes created by master Longin, displaying religious scenes with bright colors throughout the interior space.

Located 310 kilometers south of Belgrade, the monastery lies at the intersection of routes connecting Kosovska Mitrovica, Rozaje, and Novi Pazar.

The monastery houses the relics of Saint Peter of Korisha, transferred in the 16th century to protect them from destruction during Ottoman rule.
