Samuel J. Tilden House

The Samuel J. Tilden House is a four-story sandstone structure located on Gramercy Park South, featuring pink marble entrance surrounds and stone stringcourses running horizontally across its facade. The design blends Gothic Revival and Italian Renaissance architectural styles.

Two original row houses from the 1840s were transformed into a single residence by architect Calvert Vaux between 1881 and 1884. This renovation created a home for a significant New York political figure of that era.
