Jonesborough Historic District

The Jonesborough Historic District extends over 120 acres, featuring Federal, Greek Revival, and Victorian architectural styles throughout its preserved buildings and streets.

The district received its National Register of Historic Places designation in 1969, following a Tennessee Historical Commission survey that identified 72 buildings for preservation.

The district includes the Chester Inn from 1797, the Methodist Church from 1845, and Sister's Row from 1821, each representing different periods of American architecture.

Guided walking tours through the district start at the visitor center and pass by notable structures including the Washington County Courthouse and Green's Mansion.

The Old Jonesborough Female Academy, constructed in 1834, stands as evidence of early educational institutions in Tennessee's oldest town.
