Murray Isle is a river island in the St. Lawrence River with summer cottages scattered across its wooded landscape. The island features natural vegetation, quiet waterfront areas, and a small-scale residential character.
The island was originally called Hemlock Island and was renamed in the mid-1800s, eventually becoming known as Murray Isle. It developed as a seasonal residential community for summer visitors over time.
The community gathers annually for a traditional Fish Fry event at the central community house on the first Saturday of July.
Access to the island is by boat, and services are limited outside summer months. Be prepared for river conditions and variable weather when planning a visit.
A footbridge connects this island to neighboring Wintergreen Island, creating a direct link between the two properties. This physical connection is uncommon in the Thousand Islands region and changes how residents and visitors move between the spaces.
