1000 Islands Tower, Observation tower in Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Canada
The 1000 Islands Tower is an observation tower located on Hill Island standing approximately 120 meters tall. The structure features three observation decks that overlook the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding island landscape.
German immigrants Heidi and Konrad Linckh purchased the tower and transformed it into a key visitor destination for the region. Under their ownership, the structure became a central point for exploring the Thousand Islands area.
The tower functions as an information hub for learning about the Thousand Islands area, which is historically linked to the creation of the famous Thousand Islands salad dressing. It serves visitors wanting to understand the region's local identity and what makes it distinctive.
The first observation deck can be reached by elevator in about 40 seconds, providing quick access to the upper levels. Information staff members are stationed at the top to answer questions about the surrounding region.
The tower offers currency exchange services, making it a convenient stop for international visitors. This additional amenity sets it apart from typical observation structures in similar tourist areas.
