Pennington Cottage, Shingle style residence in Deer Park, Maryland.

Pennington Cottage is a Shingle Style residence in Deer Park, Maryland, built as a 2.5-story frame structure with a gambrel roof and a single-story porch. The porch runs across the front facade and wraps along the sides of the building.

Built as part of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's Deer Park Hotel complex, this residence served as a summer home for Baltimore architect Josias Pennington. The property remained his until 1929.

The cottage displays characteristic late 19th-century Shingle Style features, with dark wood shingles covering the exterior and horizontal lines that define its appearance. These design choices reflect building trends that were popular among summer residences in the region during that era.

The property now operates as a bed-and-breakfast establishment on Deer Park Hotel Road. Visitors planning to stop by should check in advance about access and overnight options if they wish to explore the site.

The cottage remains the most intact building from the original Deer Park Hotel complex and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. This recognition highlights its value as a surviving example of a historic railroad-era resort.
