Wyoming Monument

Wyoming Monument is a granite structure in Wyoming Borough, Pennsylvania, erected over a vault holding the remains of soldiers who died during the Battle of Wyoming. Built in 1833 and located at the intersection of Wyoming and Susquehanna Avenues, it features informational plaques documenting the historical battle.

The Battle of Wyoming occurred in 1778, when British Loyalists and their indigenous allies defeated local Patriots during the American Revolutionary War. The monument was built decades later to honor the soldiers who perished in this pivotal regional conflict.

The site hosts annual memorial gatherings where residents and descendants come together to honor the soldiers who fell in the battle. These ceremonies, organized by the Wyoming Commemorative Association, shape how the community remembers this event.

Lightning damaged the structure significantly in 2008, requiring extensive restoration efforts. The repairs were completed in 2011 and the restored monument was rededicated during that year's annual commemoration ceremony.
