Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, Indoor sports arena in Wilkes-Barre Township, United States.
Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza is a multipurpose facility in Wilkes-Barre Township, northeastern Pennsylvania. The venue holds 8,300 fixed seats distributed across multiple levels and hosts ice hockey games, concerts, and community events.
The arena opened in November 1999 and was originally named Northeastern Pennsylvania Civic Arena. The name later changed multiple times through partnerships with financial institutions and gaming companies.
The building takes its name from the Mohegan tribe of Connecticut, whose gaming company purchased the naming rights. Hockey fans gather regularly to support the Pittsburgh Penguins farm team, and each spring, graduates from across the region celebrate their commencement ceremonies here.
The building offers accessible entrances and designated parking spaces for visitors with limited mobility. Inside, signage helps guide you to different seating tiers and service facilities throughout the complex.
During the 2002 and 2003 seasons, the hockey team set an American Hockey League record by selling out all 40 home games. This success reflected the strong local community support for the team.
