Statue of Christopher Columbus

The statue of Christopher Columbus is an eight-foot bronze sculpture mounted on a granite pedestal in the center of the waterfront park facing the harbor. This work stands at the edge of the downtown area where the park meets the busy waterfront district.

The monument was created in 1979 to honor Italian immigrant contributions to the city. In 2020, the statue's head was removed and city officials began community discussions about its long-term fate.
