Pizzuti Collection, Art museum in Short North Arts District, Columbus, United States.
The Pizzuti Collection is an art museum in the Short North Arts District of Columbus, Ohio, displaying contemporary works from around the world. The collection is housed in a historic building near Goodale Park, spread across several floors with rotating exhibitions.
The building was constructed in 1924 as the headquarters of a commercial travelers organization and remained in that use for decades. It was converted into an art museum in 2013, keeping much of its original architecture while opening it to a new purpose.
The Pizzuti Collection shows work from artists rarely seen in major public museums, giving the visit a sense of discovery. The space feels more like a private home for art than a formal institution, which shapes how you move through the rooms.
The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday and sits in the Short North, a neighborhood easy to explore on foot before or after your visit. Plan to spend enough time inside to move through all the floors without rushing.
Ron Pizzuti bought his first painting in Paris in 1977, a work by a Belgian artist that he picked almost by chance, and that single purchase set the direction for everything that followed. The private collection eventually grew to around 2,400 contemporary works before finding a permanent home in Columbus.
