Huntington Plaza

Huntington Plaza is a Brutalist office building with 12 stories, displaying concrete grid patterns and expansive windows across its facade, with a recessed glass lobby at street level. An adjoining green space on its east side complements the structure and links it to the larger Huntington Center complex nearby.

Built in 1965 by the architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, this structure replaced the James Building, which previously housed one of Columbus's major entertainment venues. The change reflected a shift from entertainment use toward modern office functions in the downtown area.

The plaza has long served as a gathering space for public activities and connects visitors to nearby cultural events and civic life. It reflects how downtown Columbus uses its central spaces for community engagement.
