The Ellis, Residential building in Uptown Charlotte, US
The Ellis is a mixed-use residential development in Uptown Charlotte consisting of two connected buildings. One section is a 6-story tower with 184 units, while the other is a 33-story tower rising 384 feet (117 meters) with 365 units.
The development was built by Lennar on a 3.5-acre site purchased from Levine Properties in 2017. It replaced a surface parking lot that previously occupied this location in Charlotte.
Ellis Lane, a private street behind the development, serves as a gathering space where the community hosts farmers markets, food trucks, and local business events throughout the year. People gather here to shop and socialize in the heart of Uptown.
The building features 19,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, a fitness center, and a salt water pool for residents. Additional work spaces and other amenities are available throughout the complex.
The site features two towers of contrasting heights that create a stepped skyline profile rather than a single dominant structure. This design approach blends the taller element into the neighborhood while maintaining visual interest.
