Conrad New York Downtown, hotel in New York, United States
Conrad New York Downtown is an all-suite hotel in Battery Park City, on the southwestern tip of Manhattan, facing the Hudson River. Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over either the river or the lower Manhattan skyline.
Battery Park City was built on landfill created during the construction of the original World Trade Center in the 1970s. The hotel opened as part of the later wave of development that turned this reclaimed waterfront into a residential and commercial neighborhood.
The lobby features a large-scale art installation that covers an entire wall and catches the eye as soon as you walk in. This kind of public art is common in Battery Park City, where buildings often incorporate commissioned works as part of their design.
The hotel sits within easy walking distance of the 9/11 Memorial, Brookfield Place, and several subway stations in Lower Manhattan. The Hudson River Park runs right alongside the building, making it straightforward to walk or rent a bike along the waterfront.
The hotel has a seasonal rooftop bar with a direct view of the Statue of Liberty across the harbor, which is particularly clear at sunset. A multi-screen movie theater is built into the same complex, so guests can watch a film without stepping outside.
