Bharat-Bangladesh Maitri Udyan, Memorial park in Chottakhola, South Tripura, India
The park spans 20 hectares with seven hillocks separated by a natural lake, connected by walking paths throughout the grounds. Multiple plant species grow across the area, creating a green landscape.
The site was once a military base camp during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Preserved bunkers and trenches from that conflict period remain visible on the grounds today.
Sculptures created by artists from India and Bangladesh stand throughout the grounds, including statues honoring Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. These works mark the shared bond between the two nations.
The park sits roughly 130 kilometers south of Agartala, just 3 kilometers from the Bangladesh border. Parking facilities are available on-site, and educational programs are offered for visitors.
A watchtower on the grounds offers direct views into three Bangladesh districts: Comilla, Feni, and Noakhali. From this elevated point, visitors can observe the border region firsthand.
