The Melbourne Savage Club resides in a three-story Victorian building with a classical portico featuring rusticated columns and ornate interior spaces.
Founded in 1894 by 18 professional musicians and music enthusiasts, the club purchased its current premises in Bank Place from Sir Rupert Clarke in 1923.
The club maintains regular activities centered on music, art, drama, and literature, hosting concerts, art competitions, and literary discussion groups.
Members have access to dining facilities, billiard rooms, and social spaces within the heritage-listed building, which has remained largely unchanged since 1923.
The club incorporated the rival Yorick Club in 1966, merging two of Melbourne's most prominent cultural institutions under one historic roof.
