Tuirihiau falls

Tuirihiau Falls is a waterfall near Thenzawl in Mizoram state that cascades over multiple rock ledges in a stepped formation. The water flows through distinct tiers created by the natural stone layers of the landscape.

The Vanva River created this waterfall through centuries of flowing water, carving and shaping the rock formations of the Serchhip district. The ongoing erosion by the river continues to define the geological character of the area.

Local communities have long regarded this waterfall as a significant natural landmark within their oral traditions and stories passed down through generations. The falls represent a connection between the natural world and the heritage of people living in the surrounding areas.

The site can be reached by traveling from Aizawl to Thenzawl, followed by a moderate walk through the terrain to reach the waterfall. Visitors should expect wet ground and slippery rocks along the path, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

Natural caves exist behind the falling water, allowing visitors to view the cascade from inside the rock formation. This interior vantage point offers a perspective that few people experience when visiting waterfalls.
