Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride
Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor roller coaster in the New York area of Universal Studios Florida that combines dark rooms with high-speed motion and special effects. The ride follows a story in which guests race through tomb chambers and corridors while encountering animatronics, lighting effects, and fog.
The attraction opened on May 21, 2004, replacing an earlier ride called Kongfrontation. Inside the experience, a small statue honors the original attraction, marking how the area changed over time.
The themed area draws on Egyptian imagery, with hieroglyphics carved into walls and artifacts arranged to suggest ancient treasures. The queue itself functions as part of the story, where visitors notice interactive details that build the sense of exploring a mysterious space.
Guests must be at least 48 inches (1.22 m) tall and should store loose items in lockers near the entrance before boarding. The queue experience takes time, but Express Pass and single-rider lines are available to reduce waiting periods.
The ride accelerates backward through foggy tunnels at certain points, creating an unexpected sense of disorientation. These reverse sections are unusual for coasters and make the experience less predictable than a typical rail-based coaster.
