Gibson Amphitheatre, Concert hall and amphitheatre in Universal City, United States.
Gibson Amphitheatre was a performance space in Universal City featuring 6,189 seats arranged in a semicircular pattern surrounding the stage. The interior design followed Neues Bauen principles with clean lines and functional organization.
The venue opened in 1972 as an outdoor performance space and received a roof in 1980 that made events independent of weather conditions. In September 2013 the hall closed permanently.
The building carried its sponsor's name from 2005 onward, after operating under its original designation for decades. It served as the regular home for a televised awards ceremony celebrating teen entertainment.
Visitors entered through Universal CityWalk with several parking garages located nearby. A box office on site offered ticket sales on performance days.
After demolition the site became home to a themed land that ranks among the most visited attractions at the Hollywood film studios. The transformation occurred within a few years of closure.
