Route Forestière du Mont Boron, Scenic viewpoint in Nice, France
Route Forestière du Mont Boron is a forest road on a wooded hill east of central Nice, leading to open viewpoints over the city and the sea. The road passes through pine trees and reaches spots where the Bay of Angels and the Villefranche bay are both visible at once.
The Mont Boron hill served as a military position for centuries, and the 16th-century Fort du Mont Alban still stands near the top. Over time the forested slopes were turned into a protected park open to the public.
The road is open year-round and the slope is gentle enough for most walkers. Going in the early morning or late afternoon gives you the best light over the sea and fewer people on the path.
From certain points on the road, you can see two very different stretches of coastline at the same time: the wide Bay of Angels on one side and the enclosed Villefranche bay on the other. This double sea view is rarely found from a single spot along the Riviera.
