Scenic viewpoint

This viewpoint sits at an elevated position with full views of the Chartreuse mountain range, valleys, and dense alpine forests below. From here you can see the layered mountain slopes, thick conifer forests, and the expansive high plateaus stretching across the landscape.

The location connects to the Grande Chartreuse monastery founded in the 11th century by Saint Bruno in the surrounding mountains. This monastery shaped the religious and cultural history of the entire region over many centuries.

The location draws photographers who capture the changing light across the mountainous landscape during different seasons. People gather especially at dawn and dusk to photograph the colored skies and shadows moving across the slopes.

The viewpoint is accessible through marked hiking trails, with parking available at the base and informational signs showing distances and elevation gains. Most people reach it on a hike of light to moderate difficulty taking about an hour to an hour and a half.

From this spot visitors can watch various alpine bird species nesting in the surrounding cliffs and raising their young. The cliffs also provide good conditions for watching raptors that glide over the mountains.
