Sidon Mithraeum, Ancient religious shrine in Sidon, Lebanon.

The Sidon Mithraeum consists of artifacts and statues depicting the god Mithras, Cautes, and Cautopates, discovered beneath Saint Nicholas Greek church.

Scholar Edmond Durighello uncovered this religious site in the late 19th century, leading to the transfer of major artifacts to the Louvre Museum.

The shrine represents Roman religious practices through statues and architectural elements that demonstrate the worship methods of the Mithraic mystery cult.

Visitors can examine the collection of statues from the Sidon Mithraeum in Room 181 of the Louvre Museum's Department of Near Eastern Antiquities.

The original site remains underneath a car park in Lebanon, while its artifacts are cataloged in the Corpus Inscriptionum et Monumentorum Religionis Mithriacae.
