Long Bay beach, Sand beach in Saint-Martin, French Territory.
Long Bay Beach is a sand beach on the southwestern coast of Saint-Martin with white sand and turquoise waters bordered by palm trees. The shoreline stretches wide and gently into the water, creating a soft and accessible swimming area.
The beach underwent significant changes following Hurricanes Maria and Irma in September 2017, which reshaped portions of the coastline and nearby structures. Recovery and restoration efforts have since gradually returned the area to its accessible state for visitors.
The beach reflects the French character of Saint-Martin through its French name Baie Longue and connection to the island's maritime traditions. The bay serves as a gathering place where the rhythms of island life and local customs remain present in daily use.
Reaching the beach is easiest by rental car, with parking spaces near the shore to make arrival simple. The area is walkable and relatively easy to navigate, especially in the morning hours when fewer visitors are around.
The beach sits in Terres Basses, an affluent residential area where many owners maintain private homes along the coastline. This gives the bay a quieter, more exclusive feel compared to busier areas elsewhere on the island.
