Sekinchan paddy fields, Agricultural fields in Sabak Bernam, Malaysia.

Sekinchan paddy fields are an expansive agricultural area in Sabak Bernam with green and golden rice at different growth stages spread across the flat landscape. The terrain shows irrigation channels, farm roads, and plots that create a natural patchwork visible from ground level and from above.

The region was developed as a rice-growing area during colonial times and has remained a center of rice production ever since. Infrastructure improvements in the 20th century allowed larger harvests and made this region one of Malaysia's key rice suppliers.

The rice fields form the center of life here, where farming families have worked the land for generations. Daily routines of planting, tending, and harvesting define how people in this region move through the seasons.

Visit early in the morning or at sunset when the light brings out the different shades of green and gold in the fields. The open farmland has few barriers, so watch for irrigation ditches and uneven paths when walking around to explore.

Among the rice paddies stand specialized structures where swiftlets build their nests, providing farmers with an additional income beyond rice cultivation. These bird nests are valued in Asian cuisine and show how two different farming activities coexist in the same landscape.
