Kuala Selangor Nature Park, Protected coastal area in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia.
Kuala Selangor Nature Park is a protected coastal area containing three ecosystems: a brackish-water lake, mangrove forest, and secondary woodland. These habitats support a wide range of native wildlife and birds throughout the year.
The conservation area was established in 1987 by the Malaysian Nature Society and Selangor State Government to protect coastal land from golf course development. This action preserved important natural habitats that might otherwise have been lost to urban expansion.
The park maintains traditional Malaysian conservation methods through its mangrove protection programs, which support local fishing communities and preserve natural resources.
Three main walking paths guide visitors through the area: the Bund Trail circles the lake, the Main Trail winds through forest, and the Mangrove Walkway crosses wetland areas. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer the best chances to spot wildlife.
The site hosts 156 bird species, with 57 being migratory birds that arrive seasonally from distant regions. This diversity earned it designation as an Important Bird Area since 1997.
