The Venetian Las Vegas, Luxury resort and casino on Las Vegas Strip, United States
The Venetian Las Vegas is a casino resort with more than 4,000 suites in two towers on the Strip. The gaming floor covers 11,150 square meters (120,000 square feet) and sits beneath painted sky domes and replicas of Italian architecture.
The complex opened in 1999 on the site of the former Sands Hotel, which had been demolished the year before. The Italian-themed design set a new standard for themed resorts in Las Vegas.
The name of the complex comes directly from Venice, and the interiors feature hand-painted frescoes and marble columns recreating an Italian cityscape. Visitors can ride in real gondolas on covered canals, steered by oarsmen who often sing during the journey.
The resort is accessible around the clock, and all areas are wheelchair-friendly with ramps and elevators. The accommodation and gaming areas are close together, so the walk between facilities is short.
An artificial sky of painted clouds spans the indoor canals and changes light to simulate different times of day. The campanile in front of the building is a scaled-down version of the 16th-century original in Venice.
