Sphere, Music venue at The Venetian Resort, Paradise, US.
Sphere is a music venue and dome structure located next to The Venetian Resort in Paradise, Nevada. The round structure reaches a height of roughly 111 meters and a width of about 157 meters, with an exterior shell made of programmable LED screens covering an area of approximately 54,000 square meters.
Madison Square Garden Company announced the project in February 2018, working in partnership with Las Vegas Sands Corporation. The opening took place on September 29, 2023, with a concert series by the Irish band U2.
The name Sphere comes from the building's shape, a geodesic dome 157 metres across. Inside, the 16K wraparound LED wall shows films such as Darren Aronofsky's Postcard from Earth, and the exterior screen turns the facade into images like the moon. Residencies by U2, the Eagles, Dead & Company and Metallica have shaped its programme.
The interior holds about 18,600 seated visitors and features around 160,000 speakers distributed throughout the space. The audio configuration ensures that each viewer receives individually tailored sound quality.
The system combines wind machines, temperature controls, and scent effects to create a multidimensional sensory experience. About 10,000 seats are additionally equipped with haptic technology that allows vibrations and tactile impulses during performances.
