Venetian Gondola Rides, Canal boat attraction at The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas, United States.
The Venetian Gondola Rides offer canal boat tours through replicas of Italian architecture and shopping districts. Guests can travel both indoors through the Grand Canal Shoppes and outdoors on waterways that overlook the Las Vegas Strip.
The Venetian Resort opened the gondola rides in 1999 as a focal point of the property, recreating Venice's canal system in Nevada. The attraction was designed to transport visitors to a European waterway experience in the middle of the American desert.
The gondoliers dress in traditional striped shirts and sing Italian songs as they guide boats through the water. Visitors experience the feeling of being on a Venetian canal, even though they're in the middle of the Nevada desert.
The rides last about 15 minutes and fit four passengers per boat, running year-round. Plan for wait times during busy periods, and note that the gondolas operate on different levels throughout the resort.
The gondoliers use traditional oars to navigate the boats, just like in Venice. Some of the gondoliers trained in Venice and bring genuine skills and stories from the Italian city.
