The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is a theater on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, connected to the Caesars Palace casino near the Forum Shops. Its design draws on the ancient Roman Colosseum: the venue measures 256 ft (78 m) in diameter, with a rotunda 120 ft (37 m) above the floor. The proscenium arch is 45 ft (14 m) high and 120 ft (37 m) wide, and the hall seats about 4,100.
The Circus Maximus Showroom, opened in 1966, closed in September 2000 with a final performance by Steve and Eydie. It and the Omnimax Dome were demolished to build a theater for Celine Dion's show A New Day..., designed by Scéno Plus and completed on February 4, 2003. The venue opened on March 25, 2003, with a CBS special hosted by Justin Timberlake.
The venue takes its name from the Roman amphitheater and now hosts performances by international singers and entertainment productions. Many guests visit specifically for extended concert series by famous artists who perform here over weeks or months at a time.
Performances take place in the evening, and tickets can be purchased online ahead of time or directly at the theater. The entrance is inside the casino hotel, and it helps to arrive early to get oriented without rushing.
The 120-foot-wide LED screen by Mitsubishi Diamond Vision added $10 million to the budget and creates the illusion of 3D stage scenery. Ten motorized lifts make up 75 percent of the stage floor, and 200 acoustic panels control amplified sound.
