Dunes, Skyscraper casino hotel in Paradise, US
The Dunes was a tower casino in Paradise that combined table games, performance spaces, and guest rooms designed by architect Maxwell Starkman. The building brought together different activity zones inside a single structure on the Strip.
The complex opened on May 23, 1955, and became one of the early high-rise developments in this part of Nevada. Demolition took place in 1993 to make room for later projects.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the Dunes established itself as a central destination for entertainment and gambling in Las Vegas.
The building stood along the Strip among other developments and offered access to several floors with different facilities. Visitors could move between gaming areas, restaurants, and performance rooms.
The site now holds the Bellagio, which shows the shift toward a different style of hotel construction in this zone. The change from one project to another is part of how the Strip evolved.
