Mesa Arts Center, Arts center and museum in Mesa, United States
Mesa Arts Center is a cultural complex in downtown Mesa, Arizona, made up of four performance theaters, exhibition galleries, and studio spaces for working artists. The buildings are arranged around outdoor areas, so you can move from one section to another without leaving the grounds.
The center opened in the early 2000s as part of a plan to bring new activity to downtown Mesa. It was built on land that had seen little development and was one of the largest public projects the city had undertaken up to that point.
The center sits at the heart of downtown Mesa and draws both locals and visitors who come for exhibitions, performances, or workshops. Several arts organizations share the space, so there is nearly always something happening across the different parts of the complex.
The museum galleries are free to enter Tuesday through Saturday, while theater performances and some workshops require a separate ticket or advance registration. The grounds are easy to navigate on foot and parking is available nearby.
The complex contains fourteen specialized studios where visitors can take part in hands-on workshops covering activities from acting to glassblowing. This kind of direct participation is rarely found in a venue of this type.
