National Taiwan Museum of Comics, Comic arts museum in West District, Taichung, Taiwan
The National Taiwan Museum of Comics spans across 2.75 hectares with 19 preserved buildings from different architectural periods in central Taichung.
Originally constructed in 1937 as a training facility for prison officers during Japanese occupation, the complex later served as Taichung Prison until its transformation.
The museum displays extensive collections of Taiwanese comics from the 1950s to 2010s, including works from local artists and Japanese manga creators.
Visitors can access the museum through Wuquan Station, with opening hours from Wednesday to Monday, offering free admission to all exhibition spaces.
Inside the former prison bathhouse, modern exhibitions incorporate historical elements, featuring installations such as cartoon characters placed in original fixtures.
