Taichung Literature Museum, Literature museum in West District, Taiwan
The Taichung Literature Museum is a literary institution in West Taichung with six buildings that house permanent exhibitions and thematic displays. The renovated complex also includes space for children's workshops and administrative offices.
The buildings were constructed in 1934 during Japanese rule as police dormitories and their original structure still reflects this heritage. In 2009, the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau designated the complex as a historical site.
The museum displays Taiwanese literary works and manuscripts throughout the complex in dedicated spaces for different genres and authors. Visitors encounter regular readings that bring local writing traditions to life.
You can reach the site by bus from either the Taiwan High Speed Rail station or the Taichung TRA train station. The location is accessible and combined visits to nearby attractions are easy to arrange.
A literature park runs through the grounds with paths displaying calligraphy and poems for visitors to discover. The Seed Literary Square features a curved river design that creates a distinctive gathering space.
