Stockholm Medieval Museum

The museum developed from excavations during the Swedish Parliament House reconstruction between 1978 and 1980, which uncovered important medieval structures. These discoveries reveal how Stockholm grew and transformed over several centuries.

Access is down stairs into the underground rooms, where the exhibition is well lit and easy to navigate. Take time to explore the recreated spaces carefully, as small details reveal much about daily life back then.

An original section of Stockholm's city wall from the 16th century is incorporated into the museum and can be viewed directly. The permanent collection also includes a medieval ship that visitors can see.
