The Wren's Nest occupies a Queen Anne Victorian house with six rooms, featuring period furnishings and exhibits about Joel Chandler Harris's literary work.
The residence, built in 1870, became home to journalist and author Joel Chandler Harris in 1881, who purchased it with earnings from his first book.
The museum preserves African American folktales through professional storytellers who perform Brer Rabbit narratives and other traditional stories for visitors.
The museum opens on Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering guided tours and storytelling performances with free parking available for visitors.
The name originates from 1895 when Harris found wrens nesting in his mailbox, leading him to rename his property from Snap Bean Farm.
