San Antonio Pearl District
The San Antonio Pearl District is a neighborhood spread across approximately 22 acres with a mix of restored industrial buildings and modern structures side by side. The area contains shops, restaurants, hotels, green spaces with trees and water features, and a quieter extension of the River Walk that winds through the development.
The site was home to the Pearl Brewery, which produced beer for more than 100 years and gave the area its name. After the brewery closed, the industrial buildings were gradually transformed over recent decades into a mixed-use neighborhood with housing, shops, and dining.
The district takes its name from the historic Pearl Brewery that operated here for over a century. Today, visitors can sense how the name connects the area to its industrial roots while watching how new activities and communities have grown within the old structures.
The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot, with wide sidewalks and good lighting throughout most areas. Parking is available nearby, and public transit serves the area, though most visitors prefer to walk once they arrive and discover the shops and sights at their own pace.
The area is home to Hotel Emma, housed within the former brewery factory buildings and the only accommodation in San Antonio with the AAA Five Diamond Award. Even visitors who are not staying overnight can explore the impressive interior spaces and bar of the hotel.
