SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, Observation wheel at Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, USA

SkyWheel Myrtle Beach is an observation wheel at the boardwalk featuring 42 climate-controlled glass cabins that rotate approximately 187 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. The enclosed gondolas allow passengers to view the coastline and surrounding waters during a ride lasting ten to twelve minutes.

The wheel opened in 2011 as one of the first modern observation wheels in the United States. Its arrival marked the start of a wave of rotating attractions spreading across American coastal cities.

The wheel has become a gathering spot where people celebrate important moments and create memories with family and friends. Its visible presence shapes the boardwalk experience and draws crowds throughout the year for special occasions.

The wheel operates year-round, and each ride includes four complete rotations. Plan for possible wait times, especially during peak season and weekends.

Each cabin includes an intercom system that allows passengers to communicate directly with ground control during the ride. This feature reflects the attention to safety and guest comfort built into the design.

South Carolina history : plantations, Charleston, beaches

South Carolina combines American history with coastal landscapes and urban parks. Charleston preserves colonial architecture from the 18th century, including the Nathaniel Russell House and Drayton Hall. Plantations such as Magnolia, Middleton Place, and Boone Hall show the agricultural past and the history of slavery, while the Old Slave Mart Museum and McLeod Plantation document this difficult era. Fort Sumter marks the beginning of the Civil War. The city offers historic churches, Rainbow Row with its colorful townhouses, and the Charleston City Market. The coastal region includes beaches on Hilton Head Island, Folly Beach, and Sullivan's Island, along with state parks like Hunting Island and Huntington Beach. Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet combines sculpture with native plants. Myrtle Beach offers the SkyWheel and Broadway at the Beach. Inland, the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, Falls Park in Greenville with waterfalls on the Reedy River, and the Angel Oak, a centuries-old tree near Charleston. The South Carolina Aquarium and Charleston Tea Garden round out the options.
