The museum opened on June 14, 2014, as the fourth wax museum run by descendants of Spoony Singh, following the original Hollywood museum (1965), Branson (April 1996) and Pigeon Forge (May 2012). It occupies a site at 21st Avenue North and U.S. 17 Bypass within Broadway at the Beach.

The museum is one of four Hollywood Wax Museums run by descendants of Spoony Singh, alongside the original Hollywood site (1965), Branson (1996) and Pigeon Forge (2012). Its sets cover film, television and music celebrities, plus a NASCAR set and a horror villains section. A gift shop sells celebrity souvenirs and memorabilia such as award statues.

The museum is open daily and offers combination tickets that include access to related attractions like Hannah's Maze of Mirrors and other experience areas. Plan to spend time wandering between the figures and taking photos at the different sets and backdrops.

The 35-foot Great Ape of Myrtle Beach, a giant figure climbing the building's Empire State Building replica, honours the 1933 film King Kong. The museum also holds a prop vault and a laser maze, and its sets and wax figures are changed regularly.
