Deep Inside, Escape room in Canal Saint Martin, Paris, France
Deep Inside is an escape room located 30 meters underground in purpose-built chambers near Canal Saint-Martin, featuring two interconnected games centered on magic and horror themes. The installation uses multiple story levels below the surface to create two connected scenarios that guide players through immersive sequences from start to finish.
The venue was established in 2019 by transforming underground utility spaces beneath the city into entertainment rooms. This conversion repurposes Paris underground infrastructure with a new entertainment purpose while maintaining the historical context of the city below street level.
The games draw on French magical performance traditions through the character of the Magician of Paris, reflecting local entertainment heritage.
Visitors enter through a street-level bookshop before descending multiple flights of stairs into the underground chambers. Solid footwear and comfort with confined spaces are helpful, as the descent requires navigating stairs and the scenarios take place in compact purpose-built rooms.
The experience culminates in chambers designed to represent Paris as the City of Martyrs, merging historical identity with modern puzzle design in a way that most visitors overlook. This thematic choice connects each underground level to a meaningful layer of Parisian history and identity.
