Colorado Renaissance Festival, Theme park in Larkspur, United States.
The Colorado Renaissance Festival is a theme park spanning approximately 60 acres with additional camping grounds, featuring over 200 artisan shops and entertainment venues spread across the property. The grounds are designed as a reconstructed Tudor village, allowing visitors to walk between different areas with stages, shops, and dining spaces.
The festival was founded in 1975 by Jim Paradise and began with 60 artisan booths in Morrison. It later moved to Castle Rock before eventually settling in its current Larkspur location.
Each summer weekend carries its own theme, such as Celtic celebrations, Pirate Invasion, or Wine Revelry, shaping what performers wear and how entertainment unfolds. You will notice the grounds and activities transform based on these changing themes.
The festival operates between June and August and sits on expansive grounds that you will explore on foot. Bring good walking shoes and water, as you will cover considerable distance and the sun can be intense.
The grounds draw approximately 250,000 visitors each year who experience jousting tournaments, live musical performances, and hands-on craft demonstrations. These staged events follow choreography and rules rooted in historical reenactment traditions.
