V88 Building, Commercial office building in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan.
The V88 Building features a distinctive curved stainless steel facade with flowing ribbons of light that create dynamic reflections throughout the day, spanning eleven floors above ground and two basement levels with modern commercial architecture designed to harmonize with Ginza's luxury district.
Completed in 2007 by Taisei Corporation and designed by Jun Mitsui & Associates Inc. Architects in collaboration with Pelli Clarke & Partners Japan, the building was formerly known as the De Beers Ginza Building and has served as part of Tokyo's premier shopping district for over fifteen years.
The building embodies contemporary Japanese architectural philosophy by integrating innovative materials with aesthetic considerations, representing Ginza's tradition of evolving architectural styles while serving as both a commercial facility and a piece of contemporary urban art that reflects the district's luxury retail heritage.
Located at 2-5-11 Ginza with convenient access via Ginza-itchome Station on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line within a two-minute walk, the building offers office and retail rental spaces across its floors with three elevators, individual air conditioning systems, and security monitoring for tenant convenience.
The structure received the Japan Stainless Steel Association Prize in 2009 for its innovative use of curved stainless steel surfaces that resemble luminous ribbons floating above the street, creating an ever-changing appearance that interacts dynamically with natural light and urban reflections throughout different times of day.
