Praia Bom Bom

Praia Bom Bom is a beach at the northern tip of Príncipe Island, formed by two sandy coves with golden-colored sand. The water is warm and influenced by the Gulf of Guinea.

The beach served as an important harbor during the colonial period when cocoa production drove the economy. The bay provided shelter for ships and supported trade for centuries.

Fishing boats rest on the sand, showing how deeply local people remain connected to the sea. The daily work of fishermen has shaped this place for many generations.

The beach has a resort with bungalows and amenities set directly on the sand, providing a self-contained setting. Getting here requires a boat journey from the main island, so plan travel time accordingly.

The waters around the beach are home to marine species found nowhere else in the Atlantic Ocean. Scientists regularly visit the bay to study and document the underwater environment.
