Praia das Bananas is a beach on Príncipe with a curved shoreline between two rocky outcrops, offering golden sand and transparent water. Swimming and snorkeling are possible in the calm bay waters.
The beach gained international attention in the 1990s when selected for a commercial film shoot. Before that, it remained a quiet working place for local people.
Fishermen work these waters daily, passing down techniques and knowledge through their families over many years. Walking along the shore, you will see their boats and nets as part of the everyday rhythm of this place.
You can walk to this beach in about 15 minutes from Roca Belo Monte. Basic rental equipment and supplies are available nearby for water activities.
The bay has a natural crescent shape that becomes most obvious when viewed from above. Climbing to the clifftop viewpoint reveals how this curve inspired the beach's name.
